UX research

A research project to encourage civic engagement between Austin residents and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department (PARD).

I worked as a user researcher and note taker on the project, using a mix of methods to understand how residents currently engage with the city’s parks and where that engagement breaks down.

Research methods

01

Survey & interception

Surveys and intercept research to reach residents where they already were.

02

Interview

Interviews to go deeper on residents’ motivations and frustrations.

03

Ideation & journey map

Ideation sessions, synthesized into an end-to-end journey map.

The whole journey

We mapped the entire engagement process end to end as a single journey — the memorable artifact of the project.
